PHOENIX & WEGENER

FROM FINLAND & AUSTRALIA“ ROCK, SOMETIMES ROLL & SOMETIMES WITH OTHERS”
Jeffrey Wegener and Isabelle Phoenix have joined forces to create a new album being recorded in Melbourne April 2025. They are currently a duo - drums and guitar and also invite guest players in to collaborate and explore new musical territory. Wegener has played all over the planet and in many bands including Laughing Clowns, Ed Kuepper, The Saints, Nick Cave’s ‘The Birthday Party... Phoenix has collaborated with Bowie’s trusted engineer and band member Mark Plati in New York. She played music with Chris Hughes (Crime & the City Solution, Lydia Lunch...) and Maria Zastrow (Kid Congo).
BACKGROUND
It all began when Bruce Callaway offered to record the duet live in Jeffrey’s home in Sydney. 8-tracks were recorded live in three hours. The three later mixed the tracks and they decided to call these demo recordings "DEMOLITION" which sounds like a crescendoing wave of sound that is more abstract, and descriptive of a wild sea.
Their sound is experimental noise rock and they also explore the realms of
an ethereal, acoustic expression.
LIVE SHOWS:
Phoenix played the eastcoast of Australia and internationally. In Melbourne, B.C. (before covid) she collaborated on songs with Brian Henry Hooper, guitarist Osker Bickford under the banner “The Subterranean Sea.” The duo supported MJ Halloran (The Hungry Ghost’s w/ J.P. Shilo).
In December 2019, Phoenix formed a Finnish band and played festivals, art galleries and bars until the covid pandemic died.
Osker Bickford aka 'Werewolf' arrived in Finland and they self-produced a D.I.Y. recording TaranDtula, releasing it independently and playing live shows in Europe 2023-2024, Phoenix playing various solo gigs.
